Legal basis
§ 81a Residence Act
Deadlines/processing time
The processing time can vary in individual cases.
Process and procedure
The accelerated skilled workers procedure is based on an agreement between the employer and the Foreigners' Authority. The employer thereby acts on behalf of the skilled worker whom it would like to employ or train. Before the accelerated skilled workers procedure is started, it is clarified, together with the employer, if the access prerequisites for an accelerated skilled workers procedure are present.
After the agreement has been signed, the Foreigners' Authority starts the necessary procedure, gathers the required approvals and checks the legal prerequisites regarding residence. The aim is to issue a preliminary approval. The employer forwards this to the skilled worker abroad so that he/she can apply for a visa from the German diplomatic mission in the applicant's home country. After the visa has been issued, the skilled worker can travel to Germany.
Costs and fees
The processing fee for the accelerated skilled workers procedure is 411 euros. Other costs can occur through the procedure to recognise foreign qualifications.
