Residence permit in the case of well-integrated adolescents and young people
General information
For this residence permit you need to fulfil the following conditions, among others:
- You are between 14 and 27 years old at the time of application.
- You have tolerated status.
- You have attended school successfully for at least three years or have a German school or training qualification.
- You have been living in Germany for at least three years with tolerated, permitted or legal status.
- It appears guaranteed that on the basis of your previous training and life circumstances, you can fit in to the culture and society of the Federal Republic of Germany.
It is not possible to issue a residence permit if the tolerated status has been issued on the grounds of false information about identity.

Documents/ forms to be submitted
Applicant
- Application form (see below)
- Valid passport (copy)
- Rental contract (copy)
- School reports of the previous 4 school years (not half-year reports) or leaving certificates from the school or vocational training course (copy)
- Proof of the acquired basic knowledge of the legal and social order and living conditions of the Federal Republic of Germany
- Proof of having secured living costs (for example, work contract with three current wage slips) or proof of a current school or vocational training or a higher education course (current school certificate/apprenticeship contract/enrolment) (copy)
Parents and siblings of the applicant
- One application form each (see below)
- Valid passport (copy)
- Copy of proof of having secured living costs (for example, work contract with three current pay slips)
- Rental contract
- Current school attendance certificates of the siblings, if they are of school age (copy)
- to prove the relationship: Original civil status documents with a German translation (copy)
- for children under the age of six: a current biometric passport photo
Process and procedure
Please submit your application and the relevant documents by post. After the decision about your application, you will be invited to have your biometric data recorded.
Costs and fees
Issue:
- Adults: 100 euros
- Minors: 50 euros
Extension:
- Adults: 93 euros
- Minors: 46.50 euros
If you receive benefits from the Jobcenter (unemployment benefit II) or the Social Office (social assistance according to the social security act XII), you may not need to pay the fees. You need to submit your current benefits letter (Leistungsbescheid) for this.
