Overall concept for integration of migrants
At its meeting on 12 December 2012, the Council Assembly approved an overall concept for the integration of migrants with a large majority.
The City’s integration officer, Stojan Gugutschkow, said: “The concept that has now been approved is the result of an almost two-year co-ordination and participation process to which all relevant city offices and departments but also the external players in integration work in Leipzig were able to contribute”.

Facts and figures
Based on the residence register, 8,.406 Leipzig residents were found to have an immigrant background at the end of 2017, which corresponds to 14,1 % of the Leipzig population who have their principal residence in Leipzig.
A total of 27,395 migrants holds German citizenships.
The largest migrant group of 8,450 persons comes from the Russian Federation, followed by 8,441 persons from Syria, 4,641persons from Poland, 3,598 persons from Rumania, 3,431 persons from Vietnam and 3,421 persons from the Ukraine.
