Bavarian Railway Station (Bayerischer Bahnhof)
The Bavarian Railway Station was built between 1841 and 1844. Until its closure in 2011, it was the oldest railway terminus in the world.
During World War II, the covered passenger lobby, the station concourse and the administrative office building were heavily damaged. After the war, they were never rebuilt.
Today, the station houses a restaurant with its own microbrewery. Among other beers, the traditional Leipzig "Gose" is brewed and served here. Underneath the Bavarian Railway Station is one of the S-Bahn stations belonging to the Leipzig City Tunnel, which was opened in 2013.

Brewery
Along with a variety of other brews, the microbrewery at the Bavarian Railway Station produces a regional beer specialty: the "Gose". The "Gose" is characterized by its refreshing, slightly tart taste, and is an excellent thirst-quencher. Special ingredients in the brew include lactic acid, coriander and salt.
