Peaceful Revolution Foundation
On the twentieth anniversary of 9th October 1989 the Peaceful Revolution Foundation was established by citizens from East and West, church members and peace activists. In the words of Christian Führer, the Director of the Foundation: "We don't wish to place the Peaceful Revolution in a museum but aim to continue its inspiration and maintain it as a model for action today."
The City of Leipzig supports the Peaceful Revolution Foundation, which aims to derive lessons from the events of the year 1989 and make them available for use in the present and the future. In its efforts to counteract oppression, injustice and violence the foundation intends to draw inspiration from the spirit of the Peaceful Revolution. The purpose of the foundation is civil, democratic and religious commitment to peace, justice and the integrity of creation, the promotion of non-violent solutions to conflicts, and measures to strengthen civic courage together with democratic ideas and action.
