Geodata and Maps
The Municipal Department of Digital Cartography in Leipzig is a central service provider for all municipal offices in Leipzig as well as for external customers. It supports individual municipal offices and owner-operated municipal enterprises, while also providing GIS consultation for managing geographic information systems and setting up GIS-projects.
Moreover it is responsible for managing basic geodata, while also providing and updating customised geodata and thematic maps.
It is also the responsibility of the Department of Cartography to provide and maintain the information system in the Intranet and Internet. The thematic map of the City of Leipzig currently contains aerial images from 2013, 2011 and 1990, land values from 2010 and 2012, playground sites, sports grounds, school landscapes of Leipzig as well as extensive additional information.
Among other things the following data and maps are available:
Digital city map with a scale of 1:5000 containing objects from the base map for Germany, comprising of buildings, roads, street names, paths, water bodies and topography. The spatial reference is standardised and currently based on the overarching Gauß-Krüger coordinates system RD 83 (until the new spatial reference system ETRS89/UTM is introduced). Data is available in the following formats: DXF, PDF (write-protected), TIF (geo-referenced data), as JPEG or as shape-files.
Aerial images and orthophotos: The Office for Geoinformation and Land Management has been responsible for managing aerial imagery since 1990. These aerial images are available in both analogue and digital form. The collection covers vertical images at different scales and from various years. Currently, aerial images are available from 2013. The aerial campaign took place in the spring of 2013 with a ground resolution of 20 cm.
